Biography

Aiko Devriendt is a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist whose work moves between film, performance and sound art. If there were a musical equivalent of the word “filmmaker”, it would best describe his practice: composing music as a narrative language closely connected to image, rhythm and atmosphere.

With a background in jazz and classical music and studies in Music Therapy and Composition at LUCA School of Arts, Aiko developed an intuitive and exploratory approach to sound. Fascinated by the sonic possibilities of instruments and everyday objects, he creates layered, atmospheric scores that balance emotional resonance with subtlety and restraint.

Based in Brussels, he has composed music for several short films and documentaries by Belgian filmmakers such as Frederike Migom, Line Pillet, Kato De Boeck & Flo Van Deuren. Alongside his work as a film composer, he is active as a producer and multi-instrumentalist in projects including Yong Yello, Boogie Belgique and Catbug, and teaches at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp.
